Kathmandu Baptist Church 'Ebenezer' was established in 1983. In 1992, the church built its own building by faith. God provided in a great way for the building. As a token and remembrance of what God had done, the name 'Ebenezer' was added to the church name; Ebenezer meaning - "Hitherto hath the LORD helped us." (I Samuel 7:12)
God has used the church mightily to be a pillar and ground of the truth in Kathmandu and all around Nepal for more than thirty years. In the leadership of Pastor U. J. Gurung, the church has continued to grow and flourish. God has used the church to start about twenty churches in different parts of Nepal.
There are still many open doors for more church planting, and Kathmandu Baptist Church is always moving forward having the Lord's Great Commission as its vision.
Kathmandu Baptist Church holds to its Baptist Doctrine and Distinctives. We believe that the Baptist Doctrine is derived and directly based on the Word of God. Our belief and practice is entirely and exclusively based on the Word of God, the Bible.

Meet our pastor
& his wife.
Our pastor is Pastor U. J. Gurung. He was born and raised in Lamjung, Western Nepal. He came to Kathmandu for his higher education. He was pursuing a medical doctor degree, but God called him for His service. He obeyed the call and surrendered to be the full time minister.
He has been serving as the pastor of our church since 1989. He has finished his doctorate in History. He and his wife Meena have been faithful servants of the Lord Jesus Christ for many many years. They have four children - one daughter, and three sons.
